Personal Screening - Prostate Disorders Self Check

Prostate cancer is the commonest cancer in men - effecting 1 in 12.

The prostate is a gland that lies at the base of the bladder. It produces the fluid in semen. There are a number of conditions that can cause the prostate to be enlarged. This can result in symptoms such as a need to urinate more often, difficult urinating or an inability to completely empty the bladder. In the early stages of some conditions there are no symptoms.

In the past 20 years cases of prostate cancer have increased by 50% in men under 60 and the survival rate in England is only 45%.

Take the test

This finger prick test analyses a drop of blood. It detects levels of PSA (prostate specific antigen). Elevated levels of PSA are linked to some prostate disorders such as enlarged prostate or cancer.
